Heavy glass brooch in silver bezel measures 2-1/8" in diameter and weighs 1.2 ounces. Intaglio carving on backside of slightly domed citrine yellow glass resembles man with headgear worn by peasants during the French Revolution. What appears to a representation of a laurel wreath appears beneath the profile, and the initials CSR are next to the bridge of his nose. Might be some sort of organizational insignia, but we are unable to obtain any background information on this item or type of representation. Definitely Art Deco in age and execution of design, and the weight of the piece makes it more suitable for heavy suit or coat label, rather than a blouse.
